Fun Weekend!

Hey Everyone!!!!!! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine started off slow but then got moving...let's jump right into it...

On Saturday night I went to my sisters house for a girls night =)

Home Fries and me lounging on the couch...

For Din Din we ordered a Thin Crust Pie of the Works from Papa Johns and a side of Chicken Tenders

I ended up eating 3 slices of Pizza and 2 pieces of the Chicken Tenders with Blue Cheese.

I was supposed to go to Yoga on Sunday but I didn't get home until 12ish and totally overslept (oops)

For Breakfast on Sunday, I had Kashi Oatmeal with PB and a Banana

It was such a Beautiful day that I refused to stay in all day, so I talked my Sis and niece into going with me to the San Gennaro Feast. But before heading out, I knew I had to workout since I would be eating a lot of treats at the Feast. I did EA Active, Cardio, and Stretching for a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes and burned 526 Calories. Before heading out, I had a Green Monster with Spinach, 1 scoop of Chocolate LMM, and 1 tbsp of PB

The San Gennaro Feast is in the heart of Little Italy and runs for about one week.

From their Website:

Although this is an annual celebration of faith, the Feast of San Gennaro is known the world over for its festive atmosphere, an 11-day event featuring religious processions and colorful parades, free musical entertainment every day, a wide variety of ethnic food delicacies, charming restaurants and cafes and even a world-famous cannoli-eating competition! The central focus of the celebration takes place every September 19th, the official Saint Day when a celebratory Mass is held in Most Precious Blood Church, followed immediately by a religious procession in which the Statue of San Gennaro is carried from its permanent home in the church through the streets that comprise Little Italy.

We headed into the city by bus and train; I refuse to drive in the city EVER lol...

look at my stylish niece

As you start approaching the festival you can smell all the delicious food. This is the first time my niece has been to it and she asked me "What are we going to buy here, I thought we were going shopping"..."oh we ARE shopping for FOOD" lol

It was pretty crowded but not too bad

One of the main features at the feast are the Italian Sausages but you have to go to where the longs lines are because those are usually the best stands...I learned this lesson the hard way. This year I was not really in the mood for the Sausages though so I skipped it.

We kept walking and we came across one of the many Ferrara stands and you know what that means...

Rainbow Cookies!!!!!

We stopped for a bit so that my niece could enjoy her cookies and for me to sneak in a photo op =)

Okay, I may be the only person who goes to an Italian Festival and leaves eating Spanish food. But hey in my defense these things are amazing and very VERY popular at the feast.

Mozzarepas is fresh Mozzarella Cheese Sandwiched between two sweet tender Cornbread patties "and grilled to perfection"

I felt like buying more just to take home lol

We kept walking and eating and just people watched...

Before finally leaving, my sister wanted to get a Cannoli to take home and they had mini samples to try; so I did lol...it would be rude NOT to=)

After the festival, I went back to my sisters place for about an hour and then went home to watch the VMA's...Seriously what is up with Kanye West??? The boy needs help! I am not a huge Taylor Swift fan but what he did to her was horrible. I felt so bad for her because she seems like such a sweet girl.

While watching the VMA's (and True Blood) I snacked on some Lil Drum's Ice cream cones..and when I say some, I mean 4 (double oops) ...and then I saw Pink's amazing body doing a Trapeze act while singing and felt like total crap (not really)

This morning I slept in until 7 am since I went to bed at midnight for the second night in a row. I did 30 Day Shred Level 3 and burned 254 Calories. After my workout I had 1 scoop of LMM (no picture)

For Breakfast I had Oats in the Jar with 1/2 a Banana and the best part is that I get to have it again this week since my home Jar is almost finishing too WOOHOO

I hope everyone has a fabulous day!!!! even IF it is Monday lol...

Namaste...

  2. Even though I have been Italian all my life and even though my dad GREW UP on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, I have never been to a San Gennaro festival. Why? My dad has always hated feast days. I think it's because his mom forced him to go to so many of them as a kid. It's really too bad because it looks like there was some great food there.

MOZZAREPAS - basically a combination of my two favorite things. I'm gonna have to make them.

  4. That festival looks like fun! I can't wait to go back to NYC someday. My father in law drove into the city while we were there earlier this year, crazy! I will never do that when I'm on my own ;-)
