No Silicone Here…

Hello My LOVES!!!! I hope you guys are having a wonderful day! Is it me or are the weeks flying by? Is this what happens when you get older…time just flies by?

Remember my goals for June? Well I am having a horrible time with going to bed early and waking up early. I can not manage to wake up before 7AM every day…sometimes I stay in bed until 9ish which I hate because I feel like the day is going to waste. I need to work on this before it becomes the “Norm”.

The other day I went to this place called Amazing Savings with my mom and niece and I brought this Silicone Pan. I read on various websites that these pans are great and since it was only 5 bucks, I decided to give it a try.

The first thing I baked with it were Chocolate and Banana Protein Muffins with Raisins and Chocolate Chips…

DSCN7588

They tasted a little funky so I assumed it was the paper cups so I removed them. I then thought perhaps it was the pan so I soaked it overnight in soap. Fail #1

The next morning I made another attempt…this time I made Veggie & Cheddar Mini Frittatas…

DSCN7598

These had a small soapy taste….Fail #2

Last night my niece slept over and we decided to bake Blueberry Protein Muffins…

DSCN7612

And once again they tasted gross (Fail #3) so I ended up tossing them ALL out along with the PAN!

I am a brat when things don’t work as they should and instead of struggling with it and being disappointed every time I bake, I rather toss that Silly Silicone Pan out and go get a new one. I ruined my original muffin pan by spraying EZ Off on it and removing the nonstick surface “Oops”…I will never make THAT mistake again. Do you have silicone pans? do you like them? Or are you old school like me and prefer the steel ones?

Eats

Tuesday Night for din din I had a Green Monster with Spinach, Strawberries, 1 scoop of LMM, Splenda and Water.

Workouts

Ayer I did a Circuit routine while I watched Jillian’s new Show.

I did 1 minutes of Each

  • Jumping Jacks
  • Pushups
  • Lunges
  • Bicep Curls with 8lb weights
  • Situp
  • March
  • Repeat 5 more times

I then stretched for about 5 minutes and burned a total of 369 Calories in 40 minutes

This morning I did Jillian Kickboxing DVD and burned 247 Calories in 25 minutes…the best part of this workout was when my niece woke up and joined in!

Vitamins…

I decided to start taking Vitamins since I am not eating Meat anymore. I have noticed that lately I have been getting more bruises etc. and I think it might have something to do with my iron deficiency. I am even bursting capillaries on my legs which is not a pretty sight! I am hoping these help. Do you take Vitamins?

That is all for today! I hope you guys have a wonderful day!!!!!!

Namaste…

  2. I take Vitamin D b/c my blood work showed low levels.

I am a brat as well, I would have thrown the pan out after Fail #1!!

  3. That is disgusting! Soapy tasting food I mean. I would have tossed it too. I use silicone cups for muffins and have never had an issue. I wonder what caused that!!!

  4. Sorry about your bruises! I take vitamins off and on but nothing regularly. I try to get all of mine from food, mostly lots of fruits & veggies and fortified products.

I have never used silicone before, it freaks me out! I definitely won't now, lol.

  5. Where have I been that I missed you are not eating meat?! Any particular reason? I take One-A-Day vitamins, along with Calcium (plus Vit D). I probably take too many vitamins but I find that my immune system is better and so is my digestion.

  6. Time seriously is flying. I miss the days when summer hours went by slowly. I've scene those pans, but have yet to try them.

  7. I know nothing about pans or kitchen tools but what a waste of muffins! So sad. I have multivitamins, Calcium D, and fish oil but I have a hard time remembering to take them every day!

  9. Too bad the muffins weren't good- they LOOKED good! I wish I knew if it was the pan or something else as mine never gives me trouble.

I take a gummy mulitvitamin (the kind from Trader Joe's) as well as gummy calcium vitamins. Since I am 5, I love them!

  10. I was thinking of trying that GNC multi but wanted to see if anyone else ever tried them. I take Ultra Womens from Vitamin World and love it but I am running out and too lazy to go to their website and have some shipped to me :) I love the Ultra Womens though, I havent really been sick since I started taking them and just feel better when I do.

I think for Halloween you should be Mari the Muffin!!!

  11. I love my silicone cooking "pans" and have never had a problem. Maybe it was just that one? Weird! What a waste of muffins!!!

  12. Yeah if you're not eating meat, you definitely need to be getting folic acid from somewhere! Good call on the vitamins. I've been taking MASS amounts of calcium to try to get my stress fractures to heal. Now I just have to not get kidney stones from it and i"ll be good to go.

I'm a steel pan girl, tried and true. I know it's not super eco friendly. But I'd rather have muffins and cupcakes that taste good.

I think you need to repeat those cause they look awesome!

  13. Please please please come and bake/cook for me???

  14. Chocolate banana protein muffins?! Yes, please! Those silicone pans have always intrigued me, but I have never taken the plunge...guess I should keep it that way? lol

  15. Awww, your such a good role model for your niece!

I could have told you to stay away from those pans. My mom bought me one once and I had MANY failures using it. The non-stick "claim" is so false! My muffins always stick, and I no longer use mine. I do know that oyu aren't supposed to use the cupcake holders, at least mine says not to.

Have a great weekend Mari :)

  16. I only have one silicone pan and it's for muffins shaped like hearts. I don't think I've even used it. One of my friends swears by them though. I'll ask her if she has any tips!

  17. I've never tried a silicone pan, but I don't know if I would try one after your experience!

  18. I'm so sorry your silicone pan failed you--BOO!! I'd be mad, too.

  19. I LOVE my silicone muffin tray! I have a mini one and regular- I just spray them with oil and everything comes out great. Loves. Your muffins do look amazing though!

    I take a multivitamin (and omegas and calcium/vitamin D) :)

  20. when i first got my silicone pan i soaked it with water and baking soda overnight. the bakin soda eliminates the rubbery smell and then when i bake i dont use the paper cups since its non stick to begin with. I enjoy the silicone bake ware. although sometimes its a bitch to clean.
I cant take vitamins because i cant digest them... even flinstone vitamins. they caused severe distenstion in my tummy for about a month and my stomach was ROCK hard for a long time. It was very uncomfortable. so now im vitamin free lol.

  21. lol girl those muffins still look REALLY GOOD!! I want some!!

  22. That is a huge bummer! Sad that you took the time to make all that food and it tasted like soap.

  23. Hi Mari! Sorry to hear that silicone pan didn't do any good!! I'm with you for sure girl, metal ALL THE WAY. I have never baked with silcone molds, but I've heard that the goods never come out the way you want 'em to, so why risk it? :) You've had some fabbbulous eats though, and the muffins look great, so I wouldn't say it was a complete fail!!!
