Five Napkin Burger…

So what does a vegetarian do on a Saturday night? Go to a burger joint with her boyfriend!

It was a beautiful evening on Saturday so Nik and I decided to check out a carnival in Astoria Park.


After the carnival we decided to walk around Astoria, Queens and we found our way to 5 Napkin Burger.


I have been dying to try this restaurant but I was a little hesitant at the same time. First I don’t eat meat so I was scared that my choices would be limited and then second, I was still doing detox so I was scared that they would be VERY limited.

In 2003, Andy D’Amico and Simon Oren opened Nice Matin on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Since opening night, no dish has been more popular than the “5 Napkin Burger.” The dish has been so popular, in fact, that with partner Robert Guarino, D’Amico and Oren decided to give the burger its own stage in Hell’s Kitchen.

The 5 Napkin Burger is 10 ounces of fresh ground chuck topped with Gruyere cheese, caramelized onions and a rosemary aioli. In addition to the house burger, the menu features six other burgers: cheddar bacon, Italian turkey, lamb kofta burger, veggie burger, inside out burger and a burger salad.

At its core, 5 Napkin Burger is a great neighborhood restaurant. We have rounded out the burger section of the menu with a broad array of dishes that appeal to anyone in any group. Our menu offers hand-crafted sushi, appetizer and entree salads and a full selection of entrees.

The 5 Napkin menu has a lot to offer. The hardest question might be what to drink with your meal. Guests can choose from 50 beers, 100 wines and 10 specialty cocktails. Our atmosphere is casual and fun, so whatever you choose to eat or drink, be ready to enjoy yourself.

The minute we walked in, I instantly loved the atmosphere…I felt like we were in a Match.com commercial lol


After reviewing the menu, I decided to get the Veggie burger which came with 5N sauce, b&b pickles, lettuce & tomato, multi grain roll (but I skipped the roll and had it on lettuce instead).



I am so picky when it comes to veggie burgers but this was honestly one of the best that I ever had. It was so good that I had to ask the manager what was in it it and it turns out that it was made with beets, carrots etc. It was deeeelish. Of course I had to pair it with Sweet Potato fries which were also delicious.

Nik ordered the Cheddar Burger (minus the bacon) with a side of fries…which he also enjoyed.


We weren’t planning to get dessert but I ran into someone that I knew who happened to work there so the manager brought dessert out to us.


This was amazing! It had whipped cream, ice-cream, brownie, nuts, caramel, and some sort of coffee mixture poured over it. I loved it!

Will I go back to 5 Napkin?? Hell yeah and next time, I will enjoy the onion rings!
