Mari Wants Muscles!

Hey Loves!!!! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

As most of you know, I started to eat meat once again but I am trying to still eat as “clean” as possible.

(Baked chicken with carrots, onions, and batata, in EVOO, minced garlic, thyme, and salt)

Something that has been intriguing me recently is the Paleo (aka Caveman) “diet”.

The paleolithic diet (abbreviated paleo diet or paleodiet), also popularly referred to as the caveman diet, Stone Age diet and hunter-gatherer diet, is a modern nutritional plan based on the presumed ancient diet of wild plants and animals that various hominid species habitually consumed during the Paleolithic era—a period of about 2.5 million years duration that ended around 10,000 years ago with the development of agriculture and grain-based diets. In common usage, such terms as the "Paleolithic diet" also refer to the actual ancestral human diet

I remember when I did eat meat in my late 20’s and worked out regularly; my body was much more defined and that is something that I hope to achieve once again. For Christmas, I asked my sister to get me the Practical Paleo book and luckily she was able to find the last copy at our local Barnes & Noble (she won’t let me forget how long she looked for it ha)

This book has some really great recipes which I can’t wait to try! (Who wants to be my guinea pig?)

I am not an extremist so I know I will still allow myself to have certain things such as dairy; dairy is not allowed in the Paleo diet but I still consume organic half and half in my cafĂ©. I did however purchase unsweetened Trader Joe Almond Milk for my smoothies. I will also indulge in a treat here and there (PIZZA!) so I don’t feel deprived…life is about balance.

I started to incorporate more strength training into my routines; my mom even brought me a 40lb kettlebell for Christmas!

And slowly but surely, I am starting to see some progress…

Who would have thunk it, Exercise AND Diet, actually DO work! ((((insert sarcasm here)))) hahaha

Before I go, I have to share with you one of my fave gifts that I received from my clients! (they know me so well!!!!)
