Handling Sugar Cravings with PCOS and Workout Wednesday….

Happy Wednesday!!!!

As most of you know, I suffer from PCOS and one of my daily struggles is sugar cravings. I was excited to find out that this week’s Insulite PCOS Inspiration hour was on this topic and was being lead by PCOS Diva.

I jotted some notes to share with you guys:

Sometimes willpower won’t work when we have cravings because of the underlined physiologic causes.
Three primary causes of cravings:
1 Emotional
2 Feel good neurochemicals: Serotonin and Dopamine…sometimes one bite is not enough.
3 Insulin influences cravings. Insulin resistance = sugar and carb cravings

Three ways to decrease sugar cravings
Tip 1: Eat a balanced diet. Eat healthy fats and protein, fiber, and always have breakfast.  Consume more natural foods.
Tip 2: Yin and Yang. An example of this is if you eat too much salt (yang) it will make you crave more sugar (Yin). Find the balance…
Tip 3: Find sweetness in non food ways….find things that make you happy and satisfied!

Don’t be too hard on yourself when you can’t fight the cravings…remember it is more than Simple willpower!
