Monday Morning Rambles: #MindOurFuture Campaign

Good morning my loves! I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Today I want to share a very important campaign; the Bring Change 2 Mind #MindOurFuture movement.

Bring Change 2 Mind was co-founded by Glenn Close in hopes to bring awareness to Mental Illness (her sister and nephew both live with this). Here is some more information directly from their site:

Our Mission
To end the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness through widely distributed Public Education Materials based on the latest scientific insights and measured for effectiveness. To act as a portal to a broad coalition of organizations that provide service, screening, information, support and treatment of mental illness

Bring Change 2 Mind is a national anti-stigma campaign aimed at removing misconceptions about mental illness. The idea was born out of a partnership between Glenn Close and Fountain House, where Glenn volunteered in order to learn more about mental illness, which both her sister, Jessie Close, and nephew, Calen Pick, live with.

This cause is VERY important to me because I suffer from depression, social anxiety disorder, as well as an eating disorder and I want to help erase the stigma.  I have to be 100 percent honest with you guys...I almost didn't want to post my vlog below because I had no idea how emotional I was going to become. I even thought of re-recording it but my sister, Jennifer said something that stuck with me "Why edit the realness"

Maybe my vulnerability will help someone out there. I was in a very dark place at one point of my life and perhaps knowing that I was not suffering alone could have changed some events in my life.

It is scary to share these things with people because we are scared of being viewed as sick or weak but that is what this whole campaign is about...erasing the shame.

Share your story about your mental health struggle (or helping someone with mental illness) by recording and uploading a video to YouTube tagged with #MindOurFuture.

Once BC2M has viewed all of the videos, they will be selecting a handful of submissions to be featured in their next professionally produced and nationally distributed PSA.

Watch my vlog below to hear more about my personal battle (sorry in advance for the tears).

Namaste...
