Monday Morning Rambles: Stop Stealing...

Happy Monday....

A few week ago, I shared the 8 Limbs of Yoga with y'all and today I want to discuss one aspect of the first limb; Yamas. Yamas focuses on our Physical Disciplines & basically how we are supposed to carry ourselves in society. Yamas are comprised of 5 things:

  • Ahimsaa - Non Violence
  • Satya - Truth
  • Asteya - Non Stealing
  • Brahmacharya - Celibacy
  • Aparigrahaa - Non Accumulation
Think of it as a code of ethics of some sort.

When you see "Non Stealing", I bet the first thing that you think of is stealing someones property. How about stealing someones time? Have you ever encountered someone who perhaps is always late, texting and speaking on the phone instead of paying attention to you? I am sure we have all encountered someone like this.

This week, make it a point to be present at all times. When you are paying at the register, put the phone down and make eye contact with the person who is assisting you...shoot, ask them how their day is going. If you are in a group setting...stop texting and listen to the person who is speaking because you are not only being rude to the person who is asking for your attention but also to the others who are being distracted by your inconsideration. Basically, don't be a jerk.

Unless you are President Obama...you are not that important.
