Monday Morning Rambles: All Or Nothing?

Good Morning my loves! I had planned to write about my 2017 goals today but during my meditation this morning, I was inspired to write about the "All or Nothing" Mentality.

Lately I have been struggling with this way of thinking and I have a feeling that I'm not alone. Maybe my higher self knew that someone reading this, needed to hear this today as well.

This morning after my workout; I sat down to meditate and for a quick second, I almost talked myself out of it because I only had 5 minutes. During my yoga teacher training, I learned that we should meditate for a minimum of 15 minutes.

I have been slacking on my meditation because I started to believe that I was wasting my time, if I didn't sit down for at least 15 minutes. But I have to remember that 5 minutes is better than nothing at all...at least I believe so. Shoot if you can only sit down for 1 minute and focus on your pranayama, it will be beneficial throughout the day.

This goes for your fitness and nutrition goals as well. I know we would all like to spend over an hour at the gym at least 5 times a week but what about if you only have 20-30 minutes? Do it anyway and make the best use of your time. Maybe one day you eat clean and feel amazing but the next day you have a burger and fries...don't let that negate you. We are human and I believe that making small changes will have a lasting result. Don't deprive yourself, don't beat yourself up, and don't think it is ALL OR NOTHING.

Here are a few small changes that I have for 2017:
  • Going back to basics and putting pen to paper. I always find that I have greater success when I write down my food and exercise in a notebook. Even though I do log into the MyFitnessPal app I hit 1800 days this weekend); using a journal is what works best for me
  • Weekly weigh-ins with my friend, Sarah. Let's be honest...most of us added a little extra fluff during the holidays and it's time for it to go "bye bye bye".  Side note, it's always helpful to have an accountability partner to cheer you on and keep you motivated.
  • Enjoy 5 Green Monsters a week...I began to slack with the colder weather.
  • Meditate every morning

As the year progresses, I know that I will add more to my list.
