Monday Morning Rambles: Not Written in Stone...

I recently hit a wall. I was half assing my nutrition and bored with my workouts and I needed a change STAT.

A few weeks ago, I decided to incorporate carb cycling back into my "diet". I saw great results when I did this about 10 years and initially lost all of my weight. My nutritionist at the time; thought this was the best approach for me and she was right.  I was doing iifym before it became a popular hashtag ha.

After doing some research; I decided to try the 3:1 approach...3 low days followed by 1 high and repeat. I did great on the first two weeks....and then not so much. I ended up doing a half assed attempt and having moderate to high carbs almost every day.

Last Monday, after a weekend of not so great food choices; I knew that I was not ready to step on the scale on Tuesday (my weigh-in day). I reached out to my accountability partners and was honest about how I felt; it seems like I wasn't the only one that was feeling this way.

We decided to change our approach and instead of doing the 3:1 method, we would try 4:3 instead; 4 moderate to high days followed by 3 low and we also changed our weigh in day. We tried this last week (low days from Tuesday to Thursday and new weigh in on Friday) and guess what? It worked! The scale is moving in the right direction again and this weekend I didn't feel deprived and actually made better choices.

Sometimes we need to make a little tweak to see progress and rev up our motivation. If you notice that you aren't seeing the results that you want or not having the same drive as before..change it up. Nutrition and Workout plans are not written in stone...do what works best for YOU.

If you are bored with your workouts; maybe do circuit style or super sets instead of straight sets. If you are tired of running, sign up for a spin class. One little alteration can make all the difference.

Change your perspective if things aren't going your way...
