On The Mat With Mari: Don't Make Me Pop Off...

I love when people give unsolicited advice...said no one ever. 

Have you ever been in a situation where someone wants to give you advice but basically have zero clue what they are talking about? Well that happened to me last week and usually I would just brush it off but when you question my profession...well the gloves come off.

Last week, I went to the supermarket with my friend to pick up popcorn seasoning since I've been on a popcorn kick ever since I purchased my popcorn maker. My friend and I were in the middle of discussing my latest purchase when the young girl that was ringing me up, chimes in and says something along the lines of "Why are you eating popcorn, you're a personal trainer". I was two seconds away from giving my earrings to my friend and rubbing Vaseline on my face (old Mari likes to make an appearance haha) but I chose the enlightened route and schooled this girl on nutrition as well as macros because yes, I am a personal trainer but I am also a health coach. I reminded her that I am eating air popped popcorn which is a healthy whole grain snack and NOT movie theater popcorn which is covered in butter (and if I wanted to eat that, that is my choice).

This situation reminded me that everyone will have an opinion on what is "healthy" but you need to know what is healthy for YOU. This is your life and you must find the balance to make long time changes....and if you want to eat popcorn...eat the damn popcorn!
