Monday Morning Rambles: Remove The Mask...

My posts are usually inspired by what is going on in my life or something as simple as a conversation with a friend..today it is the latter.

I want to discuss "Removing The Mask" and it kind of goes perfectly with tomorrow being Halloween.

My friend, Angie and I were discussing someone that we both follow on social media and how recently their posts have been rubbing us the wrong way. We couldn't put our finger as to why but we both noticed a shift. A couple of days later, the subject arose once again and this time we were both came to the same conclusion..the person had no substance nor a story. All of their posts were these generic motivational paragraphs with a pretty photo or workout video but nothing behind them.

This got me to think about the people that I gravitate towards on social media and what attracts me to them. For me, I want to hear about your struggle, what did it take for you to get from Point A to Point B...what did you have to overcome. A perfect example of this is, Krissy Mae Cagney (I met her once and was awesome). She does not waiver from who she is and she is completely open about her sobriety as well as her health issues. Does this turn people off? Hell no! She is a successful entrepreneur and I think one of the reasons is because she is "real".

Don't get me wrong, not everyone that I follow falls into this category; some of them just post "pretty" photos but they have their own brand which is what I like. They aren't posting to get more followers or copying what someone else is doing in hopes to get sponsorship. For lack of a better word, they are "authentic" to who THEY are.

I am always rooting for the underdog because I see myself as one. I am very raw about who I am and because of that reason; I am in search for people who do the same.

Moral of the story...remove the fucking mask and be unapologetically you!
